Edward A. Johnson
Founder and CEO of the Skyline Companies, Edward A. “Ted” Johnson grew up in rural Buhl, Idaho; the son of a struggling grocer. It was during his youth that he learned the value of two bits, he learned to love the great outdoors and sports, and developed a great reverence for his Country. It was during his youth that he also gained an aspiration to greater endeavors.
He later put himself through Brigham Young University by taking any available job including selling donuts door to door. While at BYU he married Janice Martin of Glendale, California, and he also joined the Air Force ROTC program. His aspirations led him to the University of Southern California Law School (night program). After graduation, he served as a JAG officer with the US Air Force at Eglin (Florida) and then Mountain Home (Idaho) air bases. Upon an honorable release he opened a small law practice in Boise, Idaho and was soon appointed as a City judge and then a U.S. Magistrate. But knowing that the confines of a black robe and a bench didn’t fit his personal goals or the needs of his growing family, he launched into land development in 1967 when he founded Skyline with two partners. Ted and Skyline have become synonymous with residential development in the Treasure Valley.
